                                           About the Director and Classes

Picture
The Center For Touch Director, Lorie Cox is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist. She has a professional background in parent education. She has been providing Infant Massage instruction to parents since 2012 through her private business Happy Baby Secrets which serves all of East Texas. This is done through group classes or private sessions (in office or in a family's home). She also contracts with other community agencies to provide this service and bring awareness to the benefits of touch and other classes to nurture the parent infant bond. As a nurse for 27 years she began her work with cardiac patients. The last 20 years her focus has been social work & parent education specifically in the area of OB, Child Birth, Baby Care and pediatric massage instruction.

She graduated from Kilgore College Nursing School and  received comprehensive instruction  & certification in pediatric massage therapy personally from Tina Allen, Founder of the internationally revered Liddle Kidz Foundation. Lorie is prepared to teach/serve families prenatally, post partum, newborn through school age and special needs populations up to age 21, along with the unique considerations that come with a premature baby.

On a personal note, Lorie is the mother of 3 adult children. Much of her experience and passion for helping other parents has come from the challenges their family faced with their adoptive son who was born at 24 weeks gestation and weighed less than 3 pounds. He is a young adult now and though a few residual challenges remain, through the use of PT, OT, Sensory Integration Therapy and Touch early in his life, he has made strides that even some of his doctors never  imagined.
